Ingredients
Beef:
- 1 lb flank steak (thinly sliced against the grain)
Vegetables:
- 2 cups broccoli florets
Aromatics:
- 2 cloves garlic (minced)
- 1 tablespoon fresh ginger (minced)
Sauce:
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 1/2 cup beef broth (optional, for extra sauce)
Other:
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Red pepper flakes (optional)
Instructions
Marinate the Beef:
- In a bowl, combine the thinly sliced beef with soy sauce, oyster sauce, minced garlic, and ginger. Let it marinate for 15–20 minutes.
Prepare the Wok:
- Heat the vegetable oil in a wok or large skillet over high heat until the oil is shimmering.
Sauté Aromatics:
- Add the garlic and ginger to the hot oil. Stir-fry for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
Stir-Fry the Beef:
- Increase the heat and add the marinated beef. Stir-fry for 2–3 minutes until the beef is browned but not fully cooked through.
Add the Broccoli:
- Introduce the broccoli florets to the wok. Continue stir-frying for an additional 2–3 minutes until the broccoli is crisp-tender.
Combine with Sauce:
- If using, pour in the beef broth to form a light sauce. Drizzle the sesame oil over the mixture and toss to combine. Season with salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes if desired.
Finish and Serve:
- Once the beef is fully cooked and the broccoli is bright and crisp, remove the wok from heat. Serve immediately over steamed rice or noodles.
Notes
Ensure the beef is sliced thinly to allow for quick and even cooking.
Allow the beef to marinate for 15 to 20 minutes to enhance its flavor.
Use high heat during stir-frying to maintain the broccoli’s crisp texture.
Taste the sauce and adjust the seasoning with extra soy or oyster sauce as needed.
Consider using alternative proteins like chicken or tofu if you prefer.
If adding extra vegetables, stir-fry them separately to preserve their texture.
Serve immediately with steamed rice or noodles for optimal taste.
