Description

Discover how to make delicious and easy overnight oats! This make-ahead breakfast is perfect for busy mornings. Simple steps, flavor ideas, & expert tips.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 cup rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup milk (dairy or non-dairy)
  • 1 tbsp chia seeds (optional, for thicker oats)
  • 1 tsp maple syrup or honey (or to taste)
  • 1/4 tsp vanilla extract (optional)
  • Pinch of cinnamon (optional)
  • Toppings of your choice (fresh fruit, nuts, seeds, chocolate chips, etc.)

Instructions

Combine Ingredients:

  1. In a jar or container, add the rolled oats, milk, chia seeds (if using), maple syrup or honey, vanilla extract (if using), and cinnamon (if using).

Mix Well:

  1. Stir all the ingredients together thoroughly until everything is well combined. Make sure there are no clumps of oats or chia seeds sticking to the bottom.

Chill:

  1. Seal the jar or container with a lid and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or preferably overnight. This allows the oats and chia seeds to soften and thicken.

Customize & Serve:

  1. In the morning, take your overnight oats out of the fridge. Give them a stir. If they seem too thick, add a splash of extra milk to reach your desired consistency.

Add Toppings:

  1. Now comes the fun part! Add your favorite toppings. Some ideas include fresh berries, sliced banana, chopped nuts, seeds, a drizzle of honey or maple syrup, or a sprinkle of chocolate chips or cinnamon.

Enjoy:

  1. Eat your overnight oats cold straight from the jar. Or, if you prefer warm oats, heat them in the microwave for a minute or two before adding toppings.
