Description
A fast and flavorful chicken dish featuring a sweet honey-garlic glaze that cooks in just 15 minutes.
Ingredients
- 1 pound chicken breast strips
- 1/4 cup honey
- 3 garlic cloves (minced)
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp rice vinegar (optional)
- 1 tbsp cooking oil
- Salt and black pepper (to taste)
Instructions
Prepare the chicken
- Pat the chicken breast strips dry and season with a pinch of salt and pepper.
- Set aside while you mix the sauce.
Mix the sauce
- In a small bowl, combine honey, minced garlic, soy sauce, and rice vinegar (if using).
- Stir until everything is well-blended to create a quick garlic marinade.
Sear the chicken
- Heat oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.
- Arrange the chicken breast strips in a single layer and cook for about 2 minutes on each side until lightly browned.
Add the sauce
- Pour the honey-garlic mixture over the chicken.
- Stir continuously for 2–3 minutes or until the sauce thickens and evenly coats the chicken.
Finish and serve
- Remove from heat once the sauce reaches your desired consistency.
- Plate the chicken immediately, and garnish with sesame seeds or chopped green onions if desired.
Notes
From my kitchen tests: Adding a pinch of chili flakes near the end intensifies the sweet-and-spicy contrast without overpowering the honey flavor.
Temperature Trick: Keep your skillet at medium-high to quickly sear the chicken, then reduce slightly when adding the sauce so it doesn’t burn.
Common Mistake to Avoid: Overcrowding the pan makes it harder to get a proper sear, so cook in batches if needed.
Meal Prep Advice: You can double the sauce and store it in a jar for up to one week, handy for another quick chicken meal later on.
Time-Saving Hack: Use pre-minced garlic or garlic paste when you’re short on time, though fresh garlic offers the best aroma.
